Ministry

There is always an opportunity to participate in Ministry here at First Baptist Church of Athens. From Preschool to Maturing/Senior Adults, there is a place for everyone.

Weekday Early Education (WEE) Ministry

The purpose of the First Baptist Church Weekday Early Education (WEE) Program is to provide a secure Christian environment in which each child can develop to his/her greatest potential: spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. This is accomplished by providing learning and developmental experiences consistent with Christian principles based on the authority of the Bible. The WEE Program also strives to provide a sound preparation for each child for kindergarten in an elementary school. The WEE Program provides care for children from six weeks through four years of age.

Childrens Ministry

Here at First Baptist Church we strive to follow the command of Jesus by teaching children about Jesus and about sharing the Good News of His love and salvation. The Children’s Ministry provides a multitude of training and fellowship activities for all ages from birth through sixth grade.

Student Ministry

The Student Ministry at FBC Athens is committed to building disciples for our Lord Jesus Christ and to evangelize the world. We have life-changing small group Bible study that meets every Sunday morning at 9:15 in our Youth Building. Also, we have an up-beat, energetic Wednesday night service with a praise and worship band, games, and a challenging message. There are other activities, such as: D-Now, Missions trips, and many other social events that we do that promote unity within our ministry.

Maturing/Senior Adult Ministry

We are blessed with an active and invigorating ministry at First Baptist Athens for our maturing seniors.  Larry Hicks is responsible for organizing ministry opportunities as well as outings for this fun group. 

Music Ministry

Whether you sing or play an instrument, you'll find a multitude of opportunities to use your gifts for the Lord at First Baptist Athens. If you have children or teenagers in your home, you won't want them to miss out on the incredible opportunities our Music and Worship Ministry has to offer them as well.  From babies to senior adults, weekly worship opportunities and major musical productions, we have creatively developed ways of encouraging you and your children to strengthen your musical and worship leadership skills.

Sunday School

We have a Sunday School class for a individual, couple, or family of any age(s).  Click on the link above to find the right class for you. 

Women's Missionary Union

Our Women's Missionary Union (WMU) members participate in and bring church focus to major mission offerings such as the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. We place emphasis on missions education and Bible study for both children and adult members. We also support the Southern Baptist Missionaries both financially and by focused prayer.
