Home Missions Summer Projects 2012
First Baptist Church Direct Mission Trip Possibilities in 2012
“Is a Mission Trip or Project in Your Future?”
The Great Commission…to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the Uttermost parts of the Earth
The Great Commission of our Lord was initially given to a group of believers gathered at the time of His ascension to heaven after He died on the cross and arose from the grave. That Great Commission recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8 has now become the responsibility and privilege of all who have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Each of us who are followers of Christ should and must find our place of obedience to the Great Commission. All of us can pray. All of us can give. All of us can be supportive of the effort to spread the message of Christ. We do this by supporting the endeavors of our local Limestone Baptist Association, our Alabama Baptist State Convention, our North American Mission Board and our International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Another way that you may be involved is through Direct Missions. First Baptist Church of Athens is a “Missional Church”. We are committed to studying missions, to praying for missions and to giving to mission. We are also committed to participation in missions – locally, nationally and internationally. You are encouraged to pray and seek God’s mind and heart as to the possibility of your personal involvement in actual mission endeavors planned in 2012.
