WMU TASKS

WMU equips individuals to understand, embrace, and live the mission of God.

Critical Issue - Poverty

Watchword:  Colossians 1:10 NKJV "Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good and increasing in the knowledge of God."


 

 WMU MINISTRIES

Pray for and promote three annual mission offerings, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions and the Kathleen Mallory Offering for State Missions.  Promote the World Hunger Offering and "Rekindle" to assist Alabama WMU in paying off the debt on WorldSong.

FOOD PANTRY

A church food pantry is maintained in the Family Life Center, where food is dispersed to those in need each Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

WE BEAR LOVE

New stuffed animals, particularly teddy bears, are collected and distributed to organizations that serve children facing difficult situations, such as the hospital, DHR, etc.

EYE GLASSES

Used eye glasses may be left in the church library where they are packaged by the G.A. girls and sent to the mission field.

 

SOUP LABELS

Labels from Campbell's products are collected and forwarded to the Alabama Children's Homes for redemption.  Save them and leave in the  Church Library.

 

THE CLOTHES CLOSET

Is located off the Fellowship Hall and is open on Wednesday's from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon and maintains clothing for person of all ages.

CELL PHONES & EMPTY INK JET CARTRIDGES

Apple, Canon, Compaq, Dell, HP, Lexmark, & Sharp cartridges are needed and may be left in the Church Library.  Proceeds from the sale of these to a recycling center are forwarded to a NAMB missionary in California for the purchase of equipment needed in their ministry.

 

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Shoe boxes are filled for distribution by Samaritan's Purse to children around the world.

 

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Prior to the beginning of school, supplies are collected for needy students in Athens and Limestone County.

 

EDWIN HODGES MINISTRY

New and used bibles, devotional books, new and used literature and magazines are sorted , boxed, and carried to a collection site in Decatur for distribution around the World.
