Our purpose is to assist students in Athens and Limestone County in developing their God-given talents. Our goal is to provide students with intellectual, emotional, and creative opportunities for growth and development through the finest instruction possible in a Christian atmosphere.
The benefits of music training are numerous. The National Educational Longitudinal Study (1990) showed that “music participants received more academic honors and awards than non-music students, and that the percentage of music participants receiving A’s and B’s was higher than the percentage of no-music participants.” Neurological research (1997) showed that “preschoolers who received music lessons performed 34% higher on reasoning, using fractions, and proportional thinking in space in time; abilities that are critical in elementary math and science.” “High school students who were trained in music tend to score higher on their SAT’s in both verbal and math than peers who are not in music training.” (Profile of SAT and Achievement Test Takers, College Board, 2001). The Athens Academy of Fine Arts is dedicated to provide the best in fine arts instruction where students can not only learn fine arts to improve in academics but to use their talents to glorify our Creator.

Tuition and Fees Athens Academy of Fine Arts operates on a semester system for scheduling and fees. Fall 2007 will consist of 13 weeks and Spring 2008 will consist of 17 weeks.
Payment Options for private lessons
Fall 2007 Pay monthly installments of $50.00 to be paid monthly by the first of the month, but no later than the 10th of the month. Full payment of $200.00 at the beginning of the term.
Spring 2008 Pay monthly installments of $52.00 to be paid monthly by the first of the month, but no later than the 10th of the month. Full payment of $260.00 at the beginning of the term
It is your responsibility to make payments on time. After the 10th of the month there will be a late fee.
Late Fees/Delinquent Payments There is a $10 fee for late payments and a $35 fee for returned checks.
Refunds If the student has paid for a full semester and the student chooses to withdraw within the first 4 weeks, there will be a 75% refund. If the student withdraws within 5-8 weeks, there will be a 50% refund. After week 8 there will be no refunds. If the student is paying monthly and chooses to discontinue study, a written notice must be submitted one month before cessation of lessons. Two months tuition must be paid, the month of notice and the following month. (Discontinuing lessons leaves a vacancy that could have been filled by another student and leaves a gap in the teaching period for the teacher.)
Make-Up Lessons The student should attend all lessons unless the student is ill. The student is allowed 1 make-up lesson per semester due to out of town trips, school functions, or sickness. (The only exception is in case of a serious illness or event that causes the student to miss 3 or more consecutive lessons in one semester. In this case, we will make a special concession and work with you on a case by case basis.) If sickness occurs, please call the Music Ministry Office (232-0796). We would like a 24-hour notice, but we know that sometimes that won’t happen. Again, lessons will be rescheduled if at all possible.
Students who are more than 10 minutes late for a lesson forfeit that lesson at the discretion of the teacher.
If the teacher misses a lesson due to illness, there will be a makeup lesson arranged by the teacher for all missed lessons.
When to Arrive Plan to arrive about 5 minutes early for lessons (but not too early).
Behavior Protocol If there is a student taking a lesson when you arrive, wait quietly in the lobby. The teacher will come to escort you to your lesson. Please go to the restroom before it is time for the lesson.
What to Bring Bring all the music books, papers, etc. that the teacher has assigned for you to use. It is essential that you be prepared. The lesson cannot be held without your materials. If materials are left at home, there will be no makeup lesson because of lack of materials. Each student will purchase materials from the instructor.
